As you may be aware, every class has really began to focus on E-Safety this year as part of their ICT lessons. Over the next few months you can expect lots of information from us about E-Safety at both school and at home, including how you can ensure your child stays safe online. Until then, the following website is the Government’s information portal on everything and anything to do with E-Safety:

SATs on the horizon

The 2010 KS1 and 2 SATs are now fast approaching! Pupils, parents and staff are now working at a vigorous pace to ensure that the best possible results are achieved.

The majority of Y6 pupils have already purchased the Maths and Science revision booklets from school. However, it would be to their benefit if they also spent time visiting the following websites in order to revise and practise techniques:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize/ – A superb revision site with facts, games and worksheets.
http://www.mathszone.co.uk/ – Maths games and activities galore!
http://www.factmonster.com/ – An American, professional website full of facts. Great for Science.
http://nrich.maths.org/public/index.php – Maths practise for the very brightest mathematicians.
http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/ – Information, games, activities; everything! A fabulous resource.

The Season Continues…

Matches for the Year 5/6 football team will begin again after half-term. This will be a busy period with, hopefully, a game per week. We are still in the cup and are in a strong position in the league as well. Most matches will continue to be 11-a-side until the situation with goal posts can be resolved and we play 8-a-side as intended for this season. Unfortunately, the 5-a-side tournament was cancelled this year but there’s plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Keep an eye out for results on this page!

The Highwayman

Throughout this academic year, Classes 10 and 11 have studied The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. This classic poem has formed the basis for several activities in Literacy, including writing a balanced argument and descriptive setting work. The YouTube video above is an animation of the poem.
