Tag Rugby

The tag rugby team have had a marvellous few weeks! They were runners up in our local competition which took them through to the next round, competing for Bury South. Again, the team played fantastically well and took the runners up place. This success earned them a place in the Greater Manchester School Games, competing for Bury. This final tournament began with an impressive opening ceremony at the Athletics Stadium at Eastlands in Manchester. Key 103 hosted the event and the children were treated to a performance by Rizzle Kicks, amazing gymnastics trick by 2 British team members, an inspirational speech from a member of the England Olympic hockey team, and many entertaining dances and songs. We were then transported to Broughton Park Rugby Club for an afternoon of competition against schools from all over Greater Manchester. The standard of play was incredibly high and although we scored plenty of tries, we did not progress through to the final. Despite this, the children thoroughly enjoyed this memorable day competing in the sunshine, showing tremendous team spirit, determination and energy! Well done to all the pupils involved.

Sports Relief Success

Three girls from Year 5 took it upon themselves to try to raise money for Sports Relief. With little adult assistance, they baked hundreds of cakes, marketed their sale and then sold their cakes to pupils around the school. Finally, the girls counted their takings and donated them to Sports Relief. It total they raised a fantastic £88.44. Well done girls!

Egg-cellent Effort

Pupils from KS1 and KS2 have taken part in an ‘cracking’ competition – designing ‘egg-cellent’ Easter eggs. The competition was no ‘yolk’! Below are some pictures of the fantastic entries, as well as a group photograph of the winning designs.

Waste Week!

The School Council have been hard at work for the past few weeks campaigning around school and during assemblies for our school to become greener!
Last week was National Waste Week and the School Council was hard at work again but this time they were asking all pupils to get involved. Every class did their part to make our school greener. We recycled paper and plastic and even food. The school Council gave out lots of stickers and this week they will announce the ‘Greenest Class Award’ so keep trying hard, the School Council is always watching!
