We are very proud to announce that St. Philip’s RC has been awarded the Artsmark Gold award for a fantastic fourth time. The award is presented to schools who display a commitment to the arts and strive to utilise creativity at the heart of all learning. Pupils, parents and teachers have worked hard to achieve this fantastic award and we aim to continue to make the arts a major part of our school’s curriculum in the future.
Last Saturday our school held its annual PTA led Summer Fair. Parents, pupils, teachers and parish members alike worked extra hard to contribute prizes, set-up and run stalls and perform in the Parish Centre.
We are extremely pleased to announce that the fair has raised an incredible £3174.37! Thank you to all those involved and we look forward to next year’s event.
Year 1 pupils recently enjoyed a fantastic trip out to Blackpool Zoo. They saw some fierce tigers, beautiful peacocks, an ancient tortoise and even handled a slithering snake! Below are a selection of photographs for you to enjoy.
Last week our children participated in a performance to celebrate their achievements in dance. The pupils have been working hard all year with Mrs Clarke and greatly enjoyed the event – as did the parents! We’ve posted two videos of the performances below for you to enjoy.
Pupils from Miss Haigh’s Year 2 class have this week produced some outstanding work in ICT. They have created graphs, spreadsheets and databases as part of their science and numeracy work. Have a look at some of the photographs below – their work looks fantastic! Well done.
Today our school celebrated a special service at church, the focus of which was ‘World Peace’. The celebration, which was meticulously planned by Miss Haigh and Miss Boylan, featured peace prayers written by all year groups, a flag procession, drama, signing and of course peace related hymns. The event was extremely special and enabled our pupils to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of peace. Our school has received a ‘Peace Pole’ as a result and it will be erected in the playground in the near future…
The whole school have gathered together to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee. The children and staff have dressed in red, white and blue for the day and have enjoyed a traditional street party and disco. Enjoy the photos and the bank holiday celebrations!
