I am writing to you over the Easter holidays with some very sad news. This morning, we received the news that Frances Butcher, a former teacher at St. Philip’s, had died at the age of 64.
Frances was a much loved member of our community and taught at St. Philip’s from 1988 until her retirement in 2013. I know that many of you will have fond personal memories of her either as a parent or even a former pupil yourself. Frances spent her retirement years in Limavady, County Derry, and had only recently become a grandmother for the first time. Our condolences go out to her husband Seamus and her son Joe and all the family at this very difficult time. Please remember them all in your prayers.
When school reopens after the Easter holidays, we will discuss a suitable way to mark Frances’ life and the contribution she made to St. Philip’s during her 25 years at the school.
Mr. J. Barrett
