Nursery Easter Bonnet☀️☔️💐🐣🐰

This week, the children from Nursery led a special Easter assembly. As well as showcasing their amazing Easter bonnets, they told us how they had been preparing for Easter and learning about Spring. It was a fabulous colourful celebration which brought a smile to everyone’s face. The children definitely all had a spring in their toes!

Tesco’s ‘Farm to Fork’ Trail

Last week both Reception classes went on a trip to Tesco as part of their ‘People at work’ topic.  The children got to experience life behind the scenes in a supermarket and see what it is like to work in a variety of different roles.

The children got to sample delicious fresh fruit and vegetables from the store’s Produce department, make their own bread rolls and taste scrumptious cookies in the bakery.  We even got to meet a fishmonger who showed us how to gut a fish!

A fun-filled and educational day was had by all. Thank you Tesco!

Dragon Dancing!

The Nursery enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year so much that they decided to make their own dragon. After painting two large boxes red, they decorated them with lots of shiny and colourful materials. The real fun was in the dancing though. The children really enjoyed trying to beat the drums in time to the music. Take a look at them dancing in the video which also shows a selection of the things they enjoyed during the Chinese New Year celebrations.

Where is Mr Crocodile?

Both Reception classes have enjoyed reading ‘Open very carefully – a book with bite.’  After discovering the pesky crocodile had escaped from the book and destroyed their classroom, the children came up with ideas as to where Mr Crocodile had gone to next. Each child was given their own copy of the text to keep, with thanks to the Bookstart initiative.

Where do you think Mr Crocodile has gone???????

Wriggly Nativity!

This morning, pupils and parents alike were treated to an excellent re-telling of the nativity story. Children from our nursery and reception classes led a superb performance which included many wonderful songs, brave acting and (of course!) lots of ‘wriggling’. See if you can watch the excerpts below without wriggling yourself!

Treasure Island

Reception have been learning all about life as a pirate! Amongst many other activities, they dressed up as a pirate, learnt swashbuckling songs and created imaginative writing. In this post you can see Miss Millar’s class’ excellent ‘Treasure Island’ creations. Look closely at the pictures of the pirates!
