Pupils in Class 11 have being learning about how they can praise God – even in French! Thanks to Madame Birtwistle for teaching the pupils this fantastic song. It means: ‘Jesus is the rock of my life’.
Pupils in Y6 have been preparing for the move onto high school by practising a range of the French they have learnt throughout KS1 and 2. With the support of our French teacher, Madame Birtwistle, pupils paired-up and recorded a conversation using the iPad app Yakitkids. The pitch of the voices have been adjusted by the pupils themselves!
Pupils in Years 5 and 6 have been learning about the weather in French. Under the guidance of our French teacher, Madame Birtwistle, the children have learnt how to say and read different types of weather and, following this, wrote their own weather report. The video below was filmed in a recent lesson and indicates the excellent linguistic skills of our older pupils. Well done!
Pupils in Year 3 have been learning about colours with our French teacher, Madame Birtwistle. They enjoyed learning the song below! Expect lots more French uploads in the near future…
On Tuesday 12th March, we held our annual French Day at St. Philip’s. Pupils from all classes from the Nursery up to Year 6 sampled French cuisine, learnt French songs and designed portraits in the style of the local street artists. Keep an eye on this post as more photographs and videos will be added to it!
This week, French exchange students from Le Mans have visited St. Philip’s and learnt about life in an English primary school. They have been staying with pupils from St. Monica’s as part of an exchange program. The students have joined in lessons and assisted our children with their French skills during a hugely enjoyable week for all concerned. The following video is an interview held between Year 6 pupils and Pierre Fleurance.
