Well done to all those girls and boys from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 who got up early on Saturday mornings to complete the courses at Buile Hill Park or Bolton Road playing field. St Philip’s are especially proud of the 16 runners who braved the snow, sleet and freezing conditions at Bolton Road on the 9th December. The season has now ended with our Year 3-4 girls’ team narrowly missing out on coming third. Well done to Isla for achieving silver as a year 4 runner! Congratulations to Joseph (Year 6), he has been selected to represent Salford Schools at the Greater Manchester Championships, at Heaton Park on 3rd February 2018.
Over the last three months these committed pupils from Year 3 to Year 6, have braved all weathers and freezing conditions to compete in the Salford School’s Cross Country Events. All pupils were a credit to the school and their parents, but special recognition goes to Isla for achieving 3rd place overall and receiving a fantastic trophy. Euan and Joseph from KS2 have also been selected to run for Salford in the Greater Manchester Championships. We wish them every success!
During Spring term, Year 1 have been working with our Gymnastics coach, Phillipa. They have been exploring the different ways they can manipulate their bodies to create a variety of movements. They have worked incredibly hard to put together a sequence of a range of the movements they have learnt. Today they had the opportunity to share their sequences with their friends. Take a peek at the video below with snippets of their amazing performances; we are quite sure you’ll agree that they are simply brilliant! A huge well done to all the children involved. 👏🏼🏅🎽
An impressive number of children from St. Philip’s have participated in Salford’s Saturday Athletics down at The Cliff Training Ground. There have been some incredible performances from children of all ages over the last three weeks. Even more pleasing was the team work, encouragement and support the children demonstrated to one another other during the events. A big thank you to all the athletes, parents and staff involved that contributed to making this event as enjoyable as ever!
