As mentioned last week, pupils from Year 5/6 are currently learning about the life and culture of Nepal. A group of girls have studied Nepalese dance and have choreographed a dance which bridges the gap between East and West. Pupils from the Kumidini Homes school in Pokhara are enjoying the work from this project as we speak via this page!
Last Tuesday, our annual dance performance evening took place and was a huge success. As usual, the event sold out and most classes performed a dance which they had been working on in their weekly lessons. Pupils and parents alike look forward to this display of creativity and this year we are able to enjoy Mrs McNeill’s class’s performance again and again…
Class 11 have been working with Angie, a dance specialist, to create a whole-class dance over a period of several days. The dance with be performed at our ever popular annual dance evening. This video features ‘mind mapping’ in order to plan and organise their creative ideas for the project.
On the 10th March 2010, Class 10 represented St. Philip’s RC in the Salford Schools Dance Association evening held at The Lowry Theatre. Pupils performed their dance ‘Fatal Attraction’ based on a moth’s association with light. The above photos were taken during rehearsal, as photography wasn’t allowed during the actual event. However, all parents, staff and pupils agreed that the children were outstanding and a credit to the school. Several more photographs will follow ASAP.
