We are pleased to announce that our football team last night won Salford’s premier football cup competition. The team beat Broadoak 4-1 to lift the trophy. Well done and thanks to all the parents who have attended the 30+ games this season!
We are very proud to announce that St. Philip’s has been crowned as champions of five-a-side football in the Prestwich / Whitefield region. The teams participated in games across two evenings, winning all seven of the games which they played. As always, the boys represented the school with dignity and were humble in their victory. Well done!
We are extremely proud to announce that our Year 5/6 football team have ended the season as the winners of Salford’s Division One league. All Year 6 football league matches have now been played. Click on the image below to open up the table showing the final standings. We have finished a respectable 2nd – our highest position in years. Well done to the boys involved and a big thank you to all the parents who supported them this year. We still have the cup semi-final to play, so watch this space!
Matches for the Year 5/6 football team will begin again after half-term. This will be a busy period with, hopefully, a game per week. We are still in the cup and are in a strong position in the league as well. Most matches will continue to be 11-a-side until the situation with goal posts can be resolved and we play 8-a-side as intended for this season. Unfortunately, the 5-a-side tournament was cancelled this year but there’s plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Keep an eye out for results on this page!
On Friday 15th January, a eight of our Year 6 boys will take part in a national football tournament run by the Premier League. Schools from across Manchester will take part, with the victorious school representing none other than Manchester United in a national competition. The standard of the competition will be exceptionally high, but we wish our boys all the best.
