La Meteo France…

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 have been learning about the weather in French. Under the guidance of our French teacher, Madame Birtwistle, the children have learnt how to say and read different types of weather and, following this, wrote their own weather report. The video below was filmed in a recent lesson and indicates the excellent linguistic skills of our older pupils. Well done!

Lledr Hall Days Three and Four…

Pupils (and staff!) from Year 6 greatly enjoyed their once-in-a-lifetime experience at Lledr Hall last week. They participated in orienteering, hiking, canoeing, lake swimming, adventure playgrounds, night-line and much, much more. Mr Cooper’s class will be editing a short commemorative film after the holidays, but we thought we’d upload some photographs to keep you going until then!

The weather is glorious here in North Wales and the children are all having a fantastic time together. We arrived in time for lunch yesterday and have already worked on team-working activities, orienteering and ‘low rope exercises’. This morning we used our map reading skills to¬†climb a mountain, eating our packed lunch whilst enjoying views over Snowdonia.

Lowry Goes 3D

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 have been studying the artist L.S Lowry in art and design. The wonderful 3D models below have been crafted by pupils from Year 5/6 in Mrs Harney’s class. The children are really pleased with their creations!

Calendar Awards

On the evening of December 8th, at The Lowry Gallery Salford, five Year 6 children, with their parents, attended the Through the Eyes of a Child calendar award ceremony. Three children were outright winners and their paintings have become part of the published calendar. Two pupils were runners up and had their work displayed in the gallery. All five children are a credit to St. Philip’s RC and represent our commitment to the arts.

Multimedia Project: Part 3

If you love Lady Gaga then you’ll love this video! Seven girls from Class 10 planned, storyboarded, filmed and edited this excellent piece of media work. They were particularly mature when it came to the tricky stage of editing their work. Look out for the brilliant dance and maybe learn it at home…

The Final Standings

All Year 6 football league matches have now been played. Click on the image below to open up the table showing the final standings. We have finished a respectable 2nd – our highest position in years. Well done to the boys involved and a big thank you to all the parents who supported them this year. We still have the cup semi-final to play, so watch this space!

C’est Magnifique!

Pupils at St. Philip’s RC love French! Each week, pupils take part in lively, informative French lessons. Recently, all pupils took part in a French and Spanish day, in which they dressed-up, sampled food, watched French and Spanish TV and Films, and even constructed Eiffel Towers. The above video features Year 6 pupils demonstrating their fine conversational skills. Enjoy!
