On Thursday and Friday this week, pupils from Year 1 helped all of our school understand about the importance of Advent. They performed songs, drama and prayers to help us prepare to celebration the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Many thanks to all of the staff who made the performance possible and a special well done to all of our Year 1 pupils!
Miss Chiodo’s class had fun investigating which toy cars travelled the furthest distance and how force could affect this. They predicted which car would travel the furthest before they set them off. The children used tape measures to measure how far each car travelled and then compared their results with one another. The class concluded that the harder you push a car the further it will travel!
All classes at St. Philip’s RC regularly hold prayer and worship sessions. During the month of October Year 2 had a prayerful service on The Rosary. Together, they said a decade of the Rosary using rosary beads. Also, the children blessed each other with holy water from Lourdes. It was such a reverent and peaceful service.
Year 2, Miss Chiodo’s class, have had great fun making scone bread after reading The Little Red Hen story. The pupils used their hands to make different shapes. Some put raisins in the mixture. They were so tasty!
Year 1 pupils recently enjoyed a fantastic trip out to Blackpool Zoo. They saw some fierce tigers, beautiful peacocks, an ancient tortoise and even handled a slithering snake! Below are a selection of photographs for you to enjoy.
Year 1 pupils have been making puppets in Design and Technology. Miss Chiodo’s class made gingerbread man puppets and decorated gingerbread man biscuits. Snip snap yum!
